DIY, Farmhouse Decorating, Our Farmhouse

Top 10 Posts of 2017

Hello, friend!  If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been a bit quiet over here on the blog.  I had posts in mind to write, but you know what?  I ditched them to spend more time with my family over our Christmas break.  Speaking of Christmas.  How was yours?  In short, we ate too much, thoroughly enjoyed a lot of quiet downtime, and soaked in the season of celebrating the birth of Jesus.

As a new year begins, I wanted to look back on 2017 and share the top 10 posts here at Little by Little Farmhouse.  I have projects, DIY’s, and life planned to share with you in 2018, but I feel like a look back is a great way to gain perspective for the future.

10. Parenting is Letting Go

This post bubbled out of me as the brevity of time with our children hit me square in the heart.  Writing it out helped me, and I prayed over this post and that it would be an encouragement to others as well.

9. Farmhouse Christmas Home Tour {Part One}

I decorated our dining room and kitchen with the traditional red and green color scheme and used only the decor that I had on hand.  I also shared some stories about where some of the items came from.

8. Farmhouse Dining Room Table Makeover

I gave our boring dining room a kick in the pants by updating our table and…giving some chairs new life because they were on their last legs {literally…and no pun intended}.  This project was one that I almost called it quits a half dozen different times, but I am so glad that a little bit of perseverance stepped in instead.

7. Fall Farmhouse Front Porch

This was a fun post because I partnered with some other fantastic bloggers to share some outdoor inspiration.  And…it almost gave me a panic attack as I searched for pumpkins in early September.

6. Farmhouse Christmas Home Tour {Part Two}

This was the second in the two-part series of my Christmas tour and it featured our living room and dining room.  You’ll see a view of a muted neutral room and our Christmas tree that my children decorated all by themselves.

5. Painted Kitchen Cabinets Review

In September of 2015, my mom, three kids, and I repainted our kitchen cabinets.  This review post is a 6 month follow-up to the process and products that we used.  You can read about the initial makeover here.  Or read a one year review here.

4. Our Farmhouse Exterior Reveal

This post right here.  It’s the project that felt like it would suck the life out of me and give me life…all at the same time.  I have never been more proud of a project than this one.  All of those hours outside during the sweaty summer days {and evenings} with a paint brush in hand have made the biggest difference to our farmhouse.  And the sweet neighbors who would honk and give us a thumbs up as they drove by really helped keep us motivated.

3. How to Whitewash a Fireplace

This project had me really nervous.  I had never whitewashed anything before, but I was willing to give it a try because…I could not make the fireplace look any worse.  Okay, that is a little dramatic.  The fireplace before wasn’t terrible if it was in a cabin.  But with our light and bright farmhouse, it stood out like a sore thumb.  Not anymore though!

2. Vintage Book Christmas Tree Garland

This little DIY was so fun and easy to create that I just had to share it.  I have loved seeing pictures of others making these and I so appreciated that they shared their garland photos with me.  Mine is now tucked away now and I know that it will conjure up sweet memories when we unpack our Christmas decor again.

1. Spring at the Farmhouse

This post was my first ever collaboration with other bloggers and I loved partnering with new friends to share some spring inspiration.  The light brightness of our farmhouse in early spring is giving me hope that these single digit days will eventually come to an end.

It has been a wonderful year, friend.  And I am so glad to have you along for a little recap.  I’m dreaming big for this upcoming year and I hope that you are too!
