$100 Room Challenge: Mud Room Makeover Reveal

Eeeek!  Today is the day: the final reveal of our mud room makeover!  I am so excited to share the finale of this space.  It has been worth all of the hours spent planning and painting.  It was also worth it to wait this long for this mud room makeover.  Do you know why?  Because living here for over two years has taught me what does and doesn’t work…and I also feel that I’ve found my style in our farmhouse.

I promise not to “talk” much during this mud room makeover reveal.  Instead, I will let the before and after pictures do all of the talking for me.  If you missed any of the posts along the way you can catch up on them and get more details by clicking on one of these:

I have to share an up close of a hand-lettered sign that I commissioned my daughter, Salt and Light Girl, to create.  This is hanging right next to our door to remind us that as we walk out the door, we are the salt and light of the world.  {If you are interested in any of her commissioned work or digital downloads, you can visit her on Instagram.}

The whole point of this $100 Room Challenge was to keep the budget under $100 and to show you that you can make over a room on a small budget too.  So, let’s look at the breakdown of the budget over the past weeks and total it up.

$100 Room Challenge Budget:

Week One Expenses: $13.47

Week Two Expenses: $23.75

Week Three Expenses: $31.50

Week Four Expenses:

Chalk paint for stool: $4.19

Picture frames: $0 (already had these)

Photos: $0 (printed them at home)

Room Decor: $0 (shopped the house)

Grand Total Spent on this Mud Room Makeover: $72.91

Can I tell you that Mr. Little by Little Farmhouse will be doing a major happy dance when I tell him that I came in under budget!  Either that or he may fall over in shock…

I so appreciate you coming back each week to check in on the progress and for cheering me on.  I am beyond thrilled with turning an eyesore into a functional, pretty room with character.

My question and challenge for you: what room will you make over on a $100 budget?  I would love to see what project you tackle and cheer you on too!

xo,

Leigh

  1. Wow!!! It looks amazing!!! So bright and fresh! And congratulations on staying way under budget!!

    1. Leigh

Thanks, Tracy! I was actually pretty shocked about that part. I thought about spending the rest, but I couldn’t think of anything else to spend it on. And I didn’t want any clutter in here as it’s already a bit crazy as 5 of us try to get out the door. Thanks for stopping over! 🙂

  2. Donna

Such a beautiful room. I’m all about functional, and to keep it functional and under budget doesn’t always look so pretty, but you knocked it out of the park!

    1. Leigh

Thank you, Donna! I love functional too…and you are right about it not always looking pretty. I so appreciate you stopping by!

  6. Geka

It looks beautiful. Looks fresh, natural, clean…white and wood.

    1. Leigh

Woods and whites are becoming my favorite! 🙂

  7. This turned out so great! All of the white gives a whole different vibe. It feels brighter for sure. I love how you moved the bench and those hanging baskets are so good!

    1. Leigh

Thanks, Gabby! I so appreciate your kind words of encouragement!

  8. What a unique and perfect way to use those baskets. Your whole space is breathtaking! I love it!

      You are so sweet…thank you!

  9. I love this space! I wish I had a full sized mudroom. The bench is gorgeous and that black console is too.

    1. Leigh

Thank you, Kati. This is the biggest mud room I’ve ever had. It’s nice to have the space with my kids getting bigger, but it’s more space to clean. Ugh! 😉 Thanks for popping over! xo

  10. I love it. So clean, simple and fresh.

    1. Leigh

Thank you, Steph! Those are the exact reasons I am loving it too!

  11. I LOVE the hanging baskets!! And I can’t believe you came in UNDER budget!! That is amazing!!!

    1. Leigh

Thank you! And I know! I was trying to think of a way to spend it all, but I’m going with the “less is more” and will use that leftover money towards another project. 🙂

  12. Marilyn

Fabulous room! Just a thought….reconsider the frilly valances. Your windows and the view should shine alone.

    1. Leigh

Thank you, Marilyn. I will think on that. I am so used to having curtains that I didn’t think twice about it…plus they were free. 😉 My original thought was that they would help absorb sound as our house had so many echos that I was trying to battle. Have a wonderful day!

  13. Emy

Wow! It looks amazing! I love how fresh the trim color makes the room look! Such a pretty mud room!

    1. Leigh

      Emy,
Thank you for your sweet words of encouragement! It feels like a different room, and that is a very good thing! 🙂

  14. I love every detail of this space! But I think my favorite is that sweet little kitchen stepstool in the corner. It reminds me of my grandparents, and it’s the perfect little farmhouse touch!

    1. Leigh

      Meredith,
I love that memory! I found it at a yard sale a few summer’s ago and it was a weird red-orange color that I tried working with. This pale yellow fits in much better. Thanks for your kind words!

  15. Leigh, I love this space! The bright white with the wood tones is just perfection. Absolutely love what you were able to do in here, and can’t believe you came in so far under budget! Definitely pinning!

    1. Leigh

Thanks, Beth! I was shocked at coming under budget too. I was trying to think of where to spend the rest, but I kind of like it with minimal decor…less to get in the way as we rush out the door! 🙂

  16. This is amazing! No one would believe you did all this and stayed under budget – you nailed it! I love the beautiful wood touches and that sweet little stool might just be my favorite thing. It looks so fresh and clean and you did such a great job. Wow!

    1. Leigh

      Melissa,
You are so sweet. Thank you for your kind words! I know! I couldn’t believe that I came in under budget…I guess “hording” random things works out sometimes. Ha! I also used a lot of things I already have. 🙂

  17. I absolutely love this! It is so bright and the wood accents of the shelf and bench are right up my alley. So beautiful!

Thank you! Woods and whites seem to have my heart here in our farmhouse. 🙂

What a beautiful job you have done. Your mud room has become a cohesive room and you have added lovely functionality. However…I am wondering where you are storing the shoes and boots and outerwear that I saw in the “before” photo. 😀

That’s a great question, Kathie! I only shared some pretty “ideal” pics in this post. However, I shared an every day picture on Facebook and Instagram. I plan to include that photo in a post about the picture frames though. 🙂
