Farmhouse Decorating, Our Farmhouse

Farmhouse Christmas Tour {Part Two}

As promised, here is part two of my farmhouse Christmas tour!  I so enjoyed sharing part one with you earlier this week and I am exited to now show you our living and family rooms.  You may notice that our living room has a slightly different vibe than the dining room and kitchen.  Would you like to know why?  Well, a few reasons.  One being that those stockings I told you about in part one pretty much set the tone of the decor for our Christmas dining room.  As you will see, the red and green theme did not carry over to the other side of our farmhouse.  The reason for that is the beautiful rug in our living room sets a blue and white tone for the room.  I felt like red would clash too much.  Plus, I think that I can get away with decorating using different color schemes because our farmhouse is the exact opposite of modern-day open concept homes.

Let’s get started and step into our living room {from the front entry}.

I have a few of these 36″ artificial trees scattered in and outside of our home and I think putting them in a crock is my favorite!

Do you remember the vintage book Christmas tree garland I shared a few weeks ago?  It’s still going strong.  This space is still somewhat decorated as it was when I shared that DIY craft, but I did tone down the decor just a tad.

I was really excited to decorate our fireplace mantel this year, after I whitewashed the stone this past spring.

My husband did this lettering with white paint on two pallet craft wood boards.

Simple white pillar candles, mason jars, vintage books, and silver ornaments…{sigh}.

But first, my favorite cozy seating area this winter.

I decided to decorate with muted and natural colors and allow the creche to be the focal point of the built-in shelves.  I spread some dried flower remnants around the creche and spread one strand of white lights behind it.

I sprinkled pine cones throughout this room to add some texture and wood tones.

And our last stop is a little peek into our living room.  This year, I opted to forgo the galvanized tub tree stand that we have used in previous years {a collective yay went up from my family}.  In order to make things simpler, I went back to the tree skirt I have had for many years.  A train track was added courtesy of my youngest.  ♥

And no, there isn’t a present in there…just a pillow in a fun “Don’t Open Until December 25th” sack.  Ha!

Thanks for stopping by, friend!  It sure was nice having you.  May your days be merry and bright!

xo,

Leigh
