20 Facts About Me

Recently, there was a fun 20 fact hashtag going around Instagram.  I was dragging my feet for a while, but then joined in on the fun since I really enjoyed getting to know more about the many faces behind my favorite decor accounts.  Since some of you may not be on Instagram, I thought that I would bring the fun here.  This is quite out of my comfort zone {and I feel really silly taking selfies} but I’m doing it for you, my friends!

So, here it goes:

1. Even though I accepted Jesus into my heart as a young child, it wasn’t until my late 20’s when I became a true believer. I am daily thankful for God’s grace and seek to live in His will.

2. My hubby and I have been married for over 16 years. We dated long distance for 2 1/2 years and it was wonderful to marry him and be in the same town…and home!

3. We have 3 kiddos: girl (14), boy (12), and boy (9).

4. I grew up with 3 younger brothers. It really did make me who I am today. They drove me crazy when we were kids, but I am so thankful for them and their families now.

5. During our entire marriage, I have lived hours away from my family. 😞

6. 2 years ago right now, we had come to the end of ourselves physically, financially, spiritually, and emotionally. God picked us up from there and showed us a new life that He had for us in a new state. We didn’t know anyone. Literally not one person. We’ve been here for 1 1/2 years and are slowly building a new life.

7. I wanted a house with character. We got it; and then some. The original part of our farmhouse was built in 1836.

8. I never dye my hair…or my eyebrows. Yeah, I do get asked about that!

9. I fight for the underdog. Always. Even in elementary and high school I would step in and break up bullying.

10. My first car was a Dodge Omni. Google it and let that picture sink in. 🤣

11. In college I majored in criminal justice and minored in psychology.

12. My last job before becoming a SAHM 14 years ago was a wedding coordinator. I went to more weddings in those 2 years than most people do their entire lives. It was fun though!

13. I am finishing up our sixth year of homeschooling my kiddos. It was a shock when God told us to make this change but it’s been wonderful for our family. And yes, we plan to h/s through high school…everyone usually asks that.

14. I’ve only ever traveled outside the US to Canada and Mexico. I’m not sure those even count as international travel. But, this summer my husband and I have an amazing opportunity to travel to Israel..Lord willing.

15. I birthed all 3 kiddos with no drugs…I really wanted drugs though. My shortest labor was 1 1/2 hours and the longest was 3 1/2 hours. 😨

16. I like to be home and have a tendency to become a hermit. I never regret putting myself out there and need to do it more often.

17. I rarely go anywhere without makeup…at least a little concealer and mascara. At home, I am a no hair or makeup girl!

18. I grew up in the country, couldn’t wait to get out, lived in the suburbs for 14 years, and find myself back in the country!

19. Someday I hope to live in a little cottage down a quiet sleepy lane in the middle of acres and acres of woods.

20. My dream for over 20 years is to own my own bed and breakfast. I’ve already converted our farmhouse into a B&B in my mind! 🤣 If you’ve stuck around this long, you deserve some ice cream…go get yourself some! 😘

What do you think?   Did you guess any of those?  Do we have many in common?  I would love to hear some facts about you!

  1. Keri Zeigler

Hi, Leigh! Too funny that your first car was a Dodge Omni – me too! It was gray, but no clear coat, so it was pretty dull, but it got me here and there for awhile. Also, my major was criminology with a minor in psychology. I didn’t realize we had those things in common! Enjoy spring, hope to see you soon. =)

How fun, Keri! My Omni was maroon…and I think it was a bit dull too. Ha! Yup, it got me around and also caused some issues. I remember it stalling out during some turns in the winter and I would have to pop the clutch to get it to turn back on. Good times! 🙂
